Born in New York State, Melissa Kate is a powerful and entertaining singer who now travels the globe with her music and arts. She is a classically trained stage actress who uses the craft of theater to create memorable music concerts in jazz, soul and blues. She began singing jazz in the late 90’s in New York City, shortly before traveling internationally for the Department of Defense’s Armed Forces Entertainment in support of our Armed Forces, featured by the acclaimed Jazz/R&B band Taylor Made Jazz. Her concerts include performances with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, The Old-School B-Boys , Taylor Made Jazz and the Voice Squad. She is the lead vocalist of the George Scott Big Band from the historic Colored Musicians Club, and manages her own original band, the Melissa Kate Project. She has written two compelling albums, backed by seasoned, award winning musicians. Blind Faith (2006) and Kissed by Kate (2009) are available online and in stores. She believes in the power of the arts to create global peace and empower humanity. She is an advocate for the Arts and Human Rights, and works as a teaching artist in schools. She regularly offers workshops sharing her knowledge and passion.
