Overview
The exceptional pianist Michelle Cann makes her GMF debut, performing with Eliot Heaton, Geoffrey Herd, Shawn Moore, Colin Brookes and Max Geissler. The program features Dvorak’s “American” String Quartet as well as David Baker’s piano trio Roots II and other works inspired by African American music. Children 18 years and younger are welcome to attend the concert for free.

About the Artists

Geoffrey Herd
Violinist Geoffrey Herd leads a varied and impactful career as a soloist and chamber musician, innovative artistic director and dedicated pedagogue. He has performed throughout the United States, Latin America, and Asia at venues such as the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum of Art in Boston and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as well as at universities and conservatories globally. Michelle Cann
Pianist Michelle Cann made her orchestral debut at age fourteen and has since performed with various ensembles including the Florida Orchestra, Memphis Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New Jersey, Cleveland Institute of Music, New World Symphony and Sphinx symphony orchestras. She has appeared as guest soloist with the Knoxville Symphony and The Dream Unfinished orchestra and performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra in its debut of Florence Price’s Concerto in One Movement in early 2021.
