An active chamber and freelance violist based in Rochester, N.Y., Noah Fields has collaborated with artists such as Hsin-Yun Huang, Amy Schwartz Moretti, and the Tokai String Quartet, as well as members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra.
His principal teachers are Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet and Rebecca Albers, principal violist of the Minnesota Orchestra, both at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings in Macon, GA. He also studied with Peter Langgartner at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.
Beyond viola, he also sings regularly with the regionally renowned sacred music choir, Christ Church Schola Cantorum in Rochester, NY. In addition to degrees in viola performance, he holds an undergraduate degree in English from Williams College, in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
As a native of Western New York, the Finger Lakes are his favorite place to collaborate with fellow musicians.
