Night and Day: Featuring a piece written by Geneva’s own, composer Mark Olivieri

Dear Friend,

This week’s “Night and Day” concerts on June 6th and 7th will feature a piece written by Geneva’s own, composer Mark Olivieri!

Mark Olivieri (b. 1972) is a composer whose music is performed throughout the United States and abroad in such venues as The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Sibelius Academy, The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, and more. He is currently the Associate Professor of Music at the Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Moving from dawn’s first light to glimmering moonlight, this program captures the cycle of day and night and reminds us of the magic of this quotidian transformation. Composers—from Haydn to Geneva’s own Mark Olivieri—capture these contrasts, moving us from morning to night. Violin/Violist James Thompson and Josh Newburger join Geneva Music Festival for the first time this week as well.

Geoffrey Herd – violin
Clara Lyon – violin
James Thompson – viola
Josh Newburger – viola
