Reviewing 2020 and Looking Forward to the 2021 Season…

Dear Festival Friends,

Happy New Year! We hope your 2021 has been off to a good start.

The Geneva Music Festival found ways through the pandemic to bring music to our patrons and audiences through online platforms. Our 2020 season, “A Musical Offering,” featured many of the Festival’s incredible artists and long-time friends: Ani Kavafian, Clive Greensmith, Geoffrey Herd, Jennifer Higdon, Jinjoo Cho, La Voz De Tres, Michelle Cann, and Shulamit Ran. Through Facebook and YouTube live concerts, discussions, and Q&A sessions, artists were able to continue connecting with our audiences globally. These performances remain available for viewing any time on our YouTube channel.

The Geneva Music Festival is more than excited to announce the title for our 2021 season: “First Decade Retrospective.” This season will be kicked off with our annual Spring Benefit Concert on April 10, 2021, featuring Geneva Music Festival founder and violinist Geoffrey Herd, cellist Hannah Collins, and pianist Esther Park. This concert will be live streamed to our audiences.

The ATLYS string quartet who did incredible work last year with the students at the Geneva North Street School will be opening the Festival on May 20th with a concert featuring a newly commissioned piece inspired by Canandaigua’s Sonnenberg Gardens. We will welcome back cellists Clive Greensmith, Max Geissler, and Hannah Collins, violinists Ani Kavafian, Jinjoo Cho, Eliot Heaton, and Geoffrey Herd, violists Ettore Causa, Eric Wong, and Kirsten Docter, pianists Michelle Cann and Esther Park, bass-baritone Dashon Burton, bandoneonist JP Jofre, bluegrass artist Aaron Lipp, and jazz trio La Voz de Tres.

These past months have been full of brainstorming, communicating, and planning for everyone on our GMF team. We miss connecting with our audiences in person, but are working hard to find ways to present concerts in the safest and most enjoyable way. Please continue reading our newsletters and invite your friends to subscribe. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for announcements and updates of our upcoming season. We hope you will join us for this exciting new season in this new year.
