[Community Outreach] GMF at West Street School

The Geneva Music Festival is rooted in community – the community of Geneva, the artists who gather together during the Festival, and the audience members. Community outreach is and has always been an important component of the Festival.  We seek  to connect artists with members of the Geneva community of all ages.

Kicking off GMF outreach were artists Anna Petrova, Eric Wong, Peter Eom and artistic director Geoffrey Herd who performed for and talked with hundreds of pre-K, K and grade 1 schoolchildren at West Street School.

“It was so heartwarming to play for that many tiny enthusiastic people! That first applause we got from the group … is one of the happiest moments for me as a musician and human.” – Anna Petrova, Pianist

“We absolutely love performing for the young people of Geneva! The students at West Street School were amazing audience members. It’s so rewarding to see their interest and enthusiasm for music!” – Geoffrey Herd, Festival Founder and Violinist

The West Street School outreach event is just one of many that GMF artists will be performing in this season. Two free community pop-up concerts, educational events at local schools, the Boys and Girls CLUB, the YMCA, and a performance at  Ferris Hill at West Lake Senior Living Community will round out our outreach program this season.

It’s thanks to your generosity and support that GMF is able to perform in outreach events that inspire the next generation with love for live music. We can’t wait to continue our outreach efforts as we prepare for the main festival season.
